Principal, Michael Negley
Welcome to Dawson County High School, home of the Tigers! We are thrilled to welcome our students back for another school year.
I am honored and privileged to serve as the principal of DCHS. This year marks my 25th year as an educator, and all 25 years have been spent at the 9-12 level. I came to Dawson County in 2018 from West Hall High School, and I spent the first few years of my career at White County High School. I have been a classroom teacher, a department chair, a graduation coach, and an assistant principal of curriculum and instruction. Those roles and experiences prepared me to lead the students and staff of DCHS, and there is absolutely no better school (and no better students!) in the world. I am a true Tiger fan!
I believe that every child deserves a champion, and I believe that every child can succeed. Success may look different for each individual, but if a student is encouraged and loved, they can learn. While graduation and preparation for life after high school are the culminating goal for our students, I have a personal goal that each and every student at DCHS is able to cultivate a positive relationship with both their peers and the adults who serve at Dawson County. When students feel supported, they are able to appropriately handle challenge, adversity, and ultimately, growth.
My expectation for each student who enters DCHS each day is that they work hard and that they use their talents and abilities in a positive manner. Students will often hear me reminding them to “earn their stripes.” Being a DCHS Tiger is something that I want our students to take pride in! I am not only the principal of our high school; I’m also a parent of children in the Dawson County school system and a member of this community, so I take the job of preparing our students for success very seriously and personally.
If I can be of assistance to you or your student, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s make it a great year!
Go Tigers!
